Craniosacral Therapy

$80 - 30min. / $120 1hr.

Craniosacral therapy
(also called CST, also spelled CranioSacral bodywork or therapy) is an alternative medicine therapy used by osteopaths, massage therapists, naturopaths, chiropractors, and occupational therapists. A craniosacral therapy session involves the therapist placing their hands on the patient, which they say allows them to tune into what they call the craniosacral system. The practitioner gently works with the spine and the skull and its cranial sutures, diaphragms, and fascia. In this way, the restrictions of nerve passages are said to be eased, the movement of cerebrospinal fluid through the spinal cord is said to be optimized, and misaligned bones are said to be restored to their proper position. Craniosacral therapists use the therapy to treat mental stress, neck and back pain, migraines, TMJ Syndrome, and for chronic pain conditions such as fibromyalgia.

Deep Tissue Massage

$120 1hr. / $180 1.5hr. / $240 2hr.

Deep Tissue massage
is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the surface of the top muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience consistent pain, are involved in heavy physical activity, such as athletes, and patients who have sustained physical injury. It is also not uncommon for receivers of Deep Tissue Massage to have their pain replaced with a new muscle ache for a day or two. Deep tissue work varies greatly. What one calls deep tissue another will call light. When receiving deep tissue work it is important to communicate what you are feeling.

Fibromyalgia Massage

$120 1hr. / $180 1.5hr.

Fibromyalgia
is associated with widespread chronic pain, fatigue, memory problems and mood changes. Fibromyalgia is caused by overactive nerves. It occurs more often in women than in men, and is not a disease, but rather a syndrome that can be managed. Fortunately, fibromyalgia is not life threatening and does not lead to muscle or joint damage.
Fibromyalgia Massage concentrates on light and soft techniques that encourage circulation in the muscles, which increases the flow of nutrients and eliminates waste products. This is particularly beneficial for those with fibromyalgia as it can reduce heart rate, relax muscles, improve range of motion in joints and increase production of the body's natural painkillers.

Lymphatic Massage

$120 1hr. / $180 1.5hr.

Lymphatic Massage is a technique used to encourage lymph flow in the body. Lymph is the clear fluid produced by the lymph nodes, located in the neck, chest, underarms, groin, and abdomen. A healthy flow of lymph supports the body's immune system in fighting off toxins responsible for viruses and infection. The lymphatic system — comprised of 500 to 600 lymph nodes, in addition to the spleen, tonsils, thymus, and adenoids — is the body's filter system for dangerous toxins and disease-promoting bacteria. For this reason, the health of the lymphatic system is crucial to the body's ability to heal.

The focus of this massage is primarily on the upper body, including the face, neck and underarm regions. Typically, the touch is incredibly light, as the lymphatic vessels are located directly beneath the skin and respond to .5 to 8 ounces of pressure per square inch. This light application of pressure mimics the natural rhythm of the lymphatic system, resulting in a simple, non-invasive encouragement of lymph flow.

Medical Massage

$120 1hr. / $180 1.5hr.

Medical Massage
is outcome-based massage, primarily the application of a specific treatment targeted to the specific problem(s) the patient presents with a diagnosis and are administered after a thorough assessment/evaluation by the medical massage therapist with specific outcomes being the basis for treatment.

The term medical massage was birthed out of the public's need for highly skilled, hands-on therapists in treating those with injuries and chronic pain, also the present explosion of information in the injury-rehabilitation field.

Myofascial Release

$120 1hr. / $180 1.5hr.

Myofascial release
is a form of soft tissue therapy used to treat somatic dysfunction and accompanying pain and restriction of motion. This is accomplished by relaxing contracted muscles, increasing circulation, increasing venous and lymphatic drainage, and stimulating the stretch reflex of muscles and overlying fascia.[2]
Each layer of body tissue requires different mobilization techniques: subcutaneous tissue, fascia, myofascia, tendons, joints and bone. The practitioner’s touch can range from energetic to light to deep pressure. Movement and stretching are combined with massage – an approach that is easier for both the client and the therapist because you work with the natural release patterns of each layer instead of using force to try to relax the muscles.

Myotherapy

$120 1hr. / $180 1.5hr. / $240 2hrs.

Myotherapy
is a form of manual therapy which focuses on the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal pain and associated pathologies. "Myotherapy" is a generic term for whatever it takes to restore balance to a person’s physical or emotional body. It is based on the belief that to release and rehabilitate the physical body, the body’s skeleton must move, or be moved, in such a way to release trapped muscles and, many times, trapped emotions as well. Myotherapy incorporates not only the trigger point therapy, but also a wide range of soft tissue massage and manipulation including among others: muscle energy technique, dry needling, joint mobilization etc. Myotherapists also utilitise therapeutic stretching in this modality.

Prenatal Massage

$120 1hr. / $180 1.5hr.

Prenatal massage
or Mother Touch is similar to massage during non-pregnancy in terms of the goals (relaxation, pain relief, increased circulation & mobility, etc.). However, due to the changes undergone during pregnancy, modification are made. To accommodate swollen tender breasts and a growing belly, special pillows, positioning and techniques are utilized to ensure comfort for both the expecting mother and baby. With increasing weight, a changing center of gravity and the many other changes associated with pregnancy, prenatal massage can help provide relief and a sense of well being that is much deserved.

Rock & Unlock

$120 1hr. / $180 1.5hr.

Rock & Unlock
, with this technique, the entire body is rocked gently in different positions, to allow muscles to release tension. While " Rocking the Body" you can unlock tight, chronic holding patterns. Sometimes deep trigger point work is contraindicated - ideal for working with whiplash, geriatric or pregnancy clients or people with deep control issues.

Sports Massage

$120 1hr. / $180 1.5hr.

Sports massage
is actually a form of Swedish massage that is delivered to athletes. Most commonly, sports massage focuses on increasing blood and lymphatic fluid flow, reducing and eliminating pain as well as tender trigger points, and increasing range of motion of the affected area. Stretching is included in this modality for more effective range of motion. Sports massages can be broken into 4 distinct types - the pre-event sports massage, the post-event sports massage, the restorative sports massage and the rehabilitative sports massage. As the names indicate, each type of sports massage has a different focus for the athlete as they are delivered at different times during their training and performance schedule.

TMJ Release

$80 - 30 min.

TMJ Release
is short for temporomandibular joint dysfunction.as 65% to 85% of Americans experience symptoms during their lives. Symptoms include pain and muscle spasms in the head, mandible, neck and shoulder muscles; headaches; earaches; clicking noises or deviations when the mandible moves; limited ability to open the mouth; and dizziness. Causes of TMJ dysfunction include whiplash, bruxism, malocclusion, anxiety, stress, trigger points and postural dysfunction.

Treatments for TMJ disorder include splint therapy, analgesics, surgery, stress management, acupuncture, trigger point therapy, hydrotherapy and massage therapy. Data from focus groups and surveys of people with TMJ disorder suggest people experience frustration with conventional treatment, but are often satisfied with complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) treatments, especially massage therapy.

Trigger Point Therapy

$80 - 30 min.

Trigger points
or trigger sites are described as hyperirritable spots in skeletal muscle that are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibers. Trigger point practitioners believe that palpable nodules are small contraction knots[ambiguous] and a common cause of pain. Compression of a trigger point may elicit local tenderness, referred pain, or local twitch response. The local twitch response is not the same as a muscle spasm. This is because a muscle spasm refers to the entire muscle entirely contracting whereas the local twitch response also refers to the entire muscle but only involves a small twitch, no contraction. The trigger point model states that unexplained pain frequently radiates from these points of local tenderness to broader areas, sometimes distant from the trigger point itself. Practitioners claim to have identified reliable referred pain patterns, allowing practitioners to associate pain in one location with trigger points elsewhere.
